Dear Blender Community.

Before I share the great news, just a bit of information about the BFCT Program and the achievements over the last few years.

Overview of the BFCT Program

The Blender Foundation Certified Trainer Program was brought to life in Nov 2008 after months of discussion with members of the Blender Education Network.

The 10 member BFCT Review Board consisting of 10 members of the Blender Education Network, over the last four years approved 32 applications. Together with the 10 member review board, there are currently 42 certified trainers worldwide.

The current certification numbers are:

North America - 10, Mid/South America - 6, Africa - 3, Europe – 17, Asia-Pacific/Oceania - 6

For more information on the current trainers please visit the BFCT pages on Blender.org.

It would be great to see more certifications coming in worldwide!

Goals of the BFCT program

The goals of the BFCT program are:

  • Provide a standard for Certification for everyone who is interested in teaching Blender professionally.
  • Help experienced Blender artists and developers to get into training business.
  • Increase the quality and quantity of Blender training worldwide.

A certified trainer should target at least one of the following audiences:

  • Corporations who want employees trained in Blender
  • School/College/University teachers who want to integrate Blender in classes
  • Individual 3D artists who want to become trained in Blender

A certified trainer cannot give BFCT status to people who have attended their classes, however they are free to define their own courses or own student certification programs.

So who can join the BFCT Program on Blender Network?

Anyone who does training in Blender for their company, organization or on a freelance basis can apply to become a BFCT. The yearly fee to be a member of the BFCT Program is included in the Blender Network fee.

BFCT Program on Blender Network

The BFCT Program’s page is already live on Blender Network - see our member page here.

We would like all the current trainers to join the Blender Network and link their accounts to the BFCT Program’s page. To make this easier, each BFCT certification comes with a FREE Blender Network membership!

If you a current BFCT please contact bfct (at) 3danim8 (dot) com for more information on how to connect!

What are the advantages for Trainers to be listed on the network?

  • The Trainers page can be managed by the trainers themselves.
  • It’s easier to connect and stay in touch with other trainers.
  • People that are not yet certified can connect with the certification team thru the BFCT Programs page.

It will be great to see certifications from more places in the works. For more information on how to join please visit: http://www.blender.org/education-help/certified-trainer/
