A new management team is taking over the Blender Network initiative! The upcoming main changes regard the migration to a new hosting provider and the introduction of a new support system. The service might suffer some disruptions in the next weeks.

As you might have noticed, the Network initiative has been quite inactive for many months already. After a very enthusiastic start, the amount of work for keeping the Blender Network alive has become too much of a burden for Bart Veldhuizen. Added to his Shapeways and BlenderNation duties, it was taking too much of his energy and time.

We're happy to announce that we've found a good solution now. Francesco Siddi and Pablo Vazquez will take over the Blender Network initiative, as of today officially!

During the next 4 to 5 weeks, the website will migrated to new servers, and get a full back-end and design overhaul. Goal is to keep everything work here as smooth as possible, but some disruptions might happen once a while.

Best of all is that for the coming period, the Blender Network will be reactivated, to provide an even better functioning platform that will encounter old and new needs.

Here is a brief list of the main steps that are planned to be performed now:

  • Handle all support mails and subscription requests
  • Migration of the network to a new hosting provider
  • A new implementation of the web platform will be realised
  • Adding a new support system
  • A low-traffic newsletter service with the most relevant information will be established.

To make the migration smoother, a dedicated FAQ page has been created, accessible through this link
